ways to work together

I offer remote individual and couples therapy across New York State.

At the core of my practice, I want you to feel good within your relationships.

why work with me

As a marriage and family therapist, I was trained to look at challenges from a systemic, relational, and more nuanced perspective.

I received my master’s degree in Mexico City and worked for many years in New York City. I have experience working with a diverse population of people, facing multiple systems, and navigating cross-cultural dynamics. I have worked remotely with clients living all over the world and in New York.

The care I provide is always nonjudgmental, multicultural, trauma-informed, holistic, strengths-based, humanistic, collaborative, and open-minded.

what i offer

Individual Therapy

  • Through individual therapy, we will get to the root of your feelings, process trauma, and address stressors that are coming up. I support you in relationship challenges with your partner, children, parents, extended family, friends, and much more. We might examine your relationships with technology, shopping, food, or other things. I get to know your background because I believe it plays a role in your current challenges. I support you in learning healthy coping skills and better ways to manage your stress.

Couples Therapy

  • Through couples therapy, you will improve your communication with your partner and better understand one another’s needs. You will work on breaking unhealthy patterns of communication and understanding each other better. You will address resentments and unresolved conflict. I provide pre-marital therapy to work out challenges prior to marriage. I provide therapy to support couples in preparing for having a child, after a child is born, or during other major life transitions.

The Investment

What is your mental health, emotional safety, and well-being worth to you?

I am invested in helping you heal and feel better from the minute we start working together. Most of the time, therapy is short-term. It all depends on how ready and willing you are to do the work. Working with a private therapist that specializes in the challenges you are facing will give you better and faster results.

I am a private-pay provider because I don’t believe that insurance companies should control the work that we do together. I’m a relationship therapist and insurance companies do not pay for relationship-based therapy. They require a “billable diagnosis” and I can’t provide that for the work that I do.

TESTIMONIAL

“My main concern for starting therapy was learning to cope with what at times was crippling anxiety.

From the first session and throughout all of my sessions, Vanessa was warm, caring, professional and always made me feel at ease.

Even during my first few sessions where I cried more than I spoke, she always made me feel comfortable.

The coping skills, confidence, and self-worth she helped me achieve when I ended therapy was immeasurable.

I highly recommend Vanessa.”
