Couples Therapy
with Vanessa Samson, Therapist
I’m a marriage and family therapist with a foundation in relationship work. I move couples from tension to teamwork and understanding.
Do conversations turn into arguments or shutting down?
Do you feel like your needs aren’t being heard?
Are you feeling more like roommates than partners?
Clients Come To Me When They’re:
Experiencing loss of intimacy
Walking on eggshells
Dealing with unresolved past issues
Having resentment build
Struggling with parenting or family stress
Feeling disconnected or stuck
Under financial strain
How My Couples Therapy Helps
There are 3 layers to my work: I work to understand both individuals as well as the relationship as a whole.
Many couples come in focused on what the other person is doing wrong or “needs fixed.” I am not interested in which of you is “more right.” The real focus is what’s not working within the relationship based on each individual’s needs.
We then shift that into understanding ourselves and each other better, improving communication, and learning how to create a new, healthier dynamic together.
You’ll begin noticing that things feel lighter. As you see each other evolve, the relationship evolves, and changes continue to accelerate.

About Me
My work focuses on helping couples understand both themselves and each other on a deeper level.
I’m direct, engaged, and focused on helping you actually change how you relate to each other.
Therapy is where we break unhealthy patterns and rebuild new ones that work. Clients often say therapy with me is collaborative and productive, not just a place to rehash the same arguments.
Outside of therapy, I’m a mom to two kids, ages 19 months and 7, and part of a biracial family. I’ve lived in New York City and abroad in Mexico, and I’ve spent time doing volunteer work in Colombia. I’m drawn to understanding different cultures and how family dynamics show up across the world,
When I’m not with clients or my family, I’m usually reading fiction, going to museums, or exploring street art. There’s also a lot of music in our home, especially reggaeton thanks to my youngest.
